Personal development is an activity or activities that each of us would do everyday and is typically concerned with developing of ourselves and could also be called as personal growth or self-development of the person. The field of personal development would usually take a holistic approach because it involves improving myself emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically.
I am a college student and achieving personal development on a daily basis to develop and improve myself so I could be a better person could be an easy task or a challenging struggle depending on the situation that I faced everyday in my daily life as a student. An important concept in personal development that I have learned since I started my college education is the concept of personal development planning.
I read and studied about personal development planning and I learned that it is a plan or program on how you could carry out the activities in improving yourself towards the path of full personal development. There are several basic steps in personal development planning:
• Assessing or evaluating your strengths in both academic and non-academic areas and the areas that need to be further developed and improved. This step is also involved in measuring your potential to improve and determining if there are any limitations on your ability for improvement.
• Setting a formal set of personal and interpersonal goals or objectives that would be the evaluation benchmark from which you could compare the progress of the actual activities in personal development. It is preferable to have a formal written progress report that you could refer to your written benchmark of goals and objectives.

Personal development is very important in making sure that we are able to know more about our own selves. Just like in dissertation writing, sometimes getting to know our own style will really help.
